State League Women (#1, 10 wins, 1 loss) defeated ECU (#2, 9 wins,3 losses)

Stay in 1st

SLW was a top of the table clash between Cats and ECU. It was a rollercoaster of a game, with both teams getting on top and winning sets convincingly until the inevitable 5th set. The Cat's ladies went down in the 5th and called timeout at 3-9 down, but managed an amazing comeback to win 15-13 in the third. Sitting three games clear on the top of the ladder, the SL women's team have a chance to clinch top spot heading into finals in their Away double header vs Reds next weekend.

Coach Aaron.

State League Reserves Men lost to Busselton 0-3

The SLR team travelled down to Busselton and were beaten 3:0. We were outplayed by a team that was better and more hungry for the win. There is still positives to take from the game, such as our strong defence and the development of our young players . We will regroup and hopefully finish the season strong with a few home round wins.

Coach Nick.

Division One Women defeated Red Junior 3-0 25-23, 25-16, 25-13

Still working on our first set. Always starting with big mistakes but getting it back as we warm up. Thanks for Hana and her service we could win the first set. Second and third set we just did our job, nothing too much fancy, less mistakes and couple good hits. POTW goes to Hana for serving really well all the game.

Division Two Men defeated Busselton 3-0

Fill in coach was Wah Day with assistance from Jahuy. Set 1 - The lads started off strong with a block kill to start. The set continued on to be pretty even, with both teams swapping points back and fourth. A couple of miss communications gave Busso a 3 point lead, but with some good serving, serve receive and smart attacking options the Lads clawed there way into the lead and held it to win the set. Set 2 - Busso came out firing on all cylinders causing the lads to make a series of errors. The lads where down 2-5, we finally sided out, and Scott stepped up to the service line, along with some great serving, excellent hustle and smart attacking, the lads forced Busso to take a time out 9-5, it was a good call by their coach as Busso sided out and ended our 7 point run. Points where back and forth, and the lads got on another run of points, the lads took the set with decent buffer of points. Set 3 - The lads had the same momentum as the previous set, and the lads sided out straight away. Quickly getting to a 3 point lead, from then on it was an exchange of points back and forth, although the lads never lost their lead. Busso showed fight and determination towards the end of the set getting within a point of the lads, a tactical time out by the cats, and the momentum swung back favor of the lads and they took the set 25-21 and the game. The lads showed great communication and attitude in todays game, big improvements of things the lads have had issues with this year, overall a good display of what the Div 2 Men can do.

The girls played well and were focused for longer periods of play today. We served well, particularly Caitlin. Georgina set sensibly, Jade was on fire, Cherisse was flawless and Chloe was so positive. When Georgina was in 4, Sasha hit a few reds and Bella was solid. Eugenie played and captained so well. These girls are so resilient. Fantastic win on our run to finals.

The guys were confident coming into this match leading them to a strong start taking the first 2 sets with relative ease. The third set saw reds fight back a little more taking them to match point, despite being down by 2 they were able to maintain a level head and take out the match. Player of the match goes to Jaron for his consistency in bettering the ball with every touch and strong serving.
